Wozniak - "Hackers Wanted"
Couple of good quotes from Wozniak that I think answers a common problem I see, particularly with many in IT but I couldn’t figure out why.
I have often stated that I believe today we have many in IT and technology that are “fake”. Fake geeks, fake IT staff. These are people who are in IT not because they are geeks or love technology, nope they got into it because it seemed like a good career financially. These people can’t troubleshoot, they can’t think logically. They just want answers or a fix to a problem so they can move on. They don’t want or have a need to understand why something happened.
Anyway, here are the quotes, almost verbatim but I suspect I am missing a word or two:
"many teachers will tell you we don't really have school systems that encourage the children to think of a problem and what the solution should be...no just identify solution taught in this chapter and use that one"
"the way most view intelligence is not defined as somebody having a brain that can think and consider possibilities and come up with solutions.. it's saying the exact same thing as everyone else, read same newspaper, watched same shows and read same books and now you can say the same things about how the world works"
